Warranty Policy
Every eligible iMEND repair is backed by our 360-day warranty on parts and workmanship, unless a different period is stated on your receipt. The full policy below explains exactly what is and is not covered.
1. Introduction
This Warranty Policy explains what is covered and what is not covered when you use iMEND for repairs or purchase iMEND Certified Devices. It is designed to protect both our customers and our business by being clear, fair and transparent.
This warranty applies only to work carried out by iMEND and parts supplied by iMEND. It does not cover damage, misuse, liquid exposure, impact or any third-party intervention after our repair.
Nothing in this Warranty Policy affects your statutory rights under Irish and EU consumer law.
2. Warranty overview: repairs
Unless otherwise stated on your receipt or invoice, iMEND provides a 360-day limited warranty on eligible repairs from the date of collection. The exact duration and type of warranty may depend on the repair category and will be confirmed on your receipt.
Our repair warranty:
- Covers iMEND parts and workmanship only
- Applies only to the specific fault and part(s) repaired
- Is non-transferable and applies to the original customer and device only
- May be voided if the device is later damaged, opened or modified by a third party
3. What our repair warranty covers
Subject to the exclusions below, iMEND's repair warranty covers:
- Faulty replacement parts supplied and installed by iMEND
- Workmanship faults directly caused by iMEND
- Touch or display issues proven to be caused by a failed replacement part
- Batteries that fail due to a manufacturing defect within the applicable warranty period
- Issues that appear naturally in the repaired area without any signs of physical, liquid or pressure damage
If a valid warranty claim is accepted, iMEND will, at its discretion:
- Re-repair or replace the faulty part, or
- Provide an alternative remedy as agreed with the customer.
4. What our repair warranty does not cover
The warranty covers the repair we carried out. It does not cover faults that are unrelated to that repair, or damage that happens after it through accident, misuse, liquid or work by somebody else. In detail, it does not cover:
4.1 Physical damage (any form)
Warranty is void if, after our repair, the device shows signs of:
- Cracks in glass, housing or back (including hairline cracks)
- Bent or twisted frame
- Pressure marks or lines on the display
- Touch issues clearly linked to impact or bending
- Black spots, screen bleed, ink marks or LCD/OLED damage
- Damage from tight or poorly-fitted cases or screen protectors
- Any drop, knock, shock or crush damage
4.2 Water / liquid / moisture damage
Warranty does NOT apply if there is any evidence of:
- Liquid indicators being triggered
- Moisture, steam, condensation or sticky residue inside the device
- Internal corrosion, rust or water staining
4.3 Software, updates & third-party apps
Warranty does not cover:
- iOS or Android update failures
- Software bugs or glitches
- Third-party app issues
- Data loss, data corruption or forgotten passwords
- Account locks (Apple ID, Google ID, Samsung, etc.)
4.4 Accessories & external items
The warranty does not cover:
- Customer's own chargers, cables, cases or accessories
- Damage caused by cheap or non-compliant power adapters or cables
4.5 Natural wear & age
Normal wear, ageing and cosmetic issues are not covered, including but not limited to:
- General battery health decrease over time
- Minor cosmetic marks, scuffs or discolouration
- Age-related performance changes
5. Special warning: motherboard / IC repairs
Motherboard, IC and micro-soldering repairs are extremely sensitive and carry a higher risk of partial or total failure.
By leaving a device with iMEND for board-level repair, you accept that:
- The device may not be recoverable, even with professional work
- Some faults may return later due to underlying board weakness
- New, unrelated faults may appear (audio, touch, camera, network, etc.)
For this reason, iMEND's warranty on motherboard and IC repairs is very limited and typically covers only the specific component replaced where it fails due to a clear workmanship issue.
We are not responsible if a device that was temporarily working before opening develops additional faults or stops working later due to pre-existing damage, age or previous poor-quality repairs.
6. Previous third-party repairs or damage
Our warranty is automatically void if, after our repair:
- The device is opened or worked on by any third party
- Tamper stickers or iMEND security labels are removed or damaged
- Screws, shields or brackets have been removed or changed by others
- Excessive glue, tape or non-original parts from previous repairs are found inside
- A bent, twisted or cracked frame puts pressure on the screen or components
Many devices arrive with hidden damage or low-quality previous repairs. In these cases we will always try to warn you, but we cannot be responsible for failures caused by old or poor-quality work done elsewhere.
7. Battery warranty & customer responsibilities
In general, batteries are consumable components and naturally degrade over time. iMEND may offer a limited battery warranty against manufacturing defects for a defined period, depending on the part used. The exact period will be stated on your receipt.
The battery warranty does NOT cover issues caused by:
- Leaving the device on charge overnight every night for long periods
- Regular use of very cheap or non-approved chargers or power banks
- Extreme temperatures (leaving the phone in a hot car, on a radiator, etc.)
- Physical damage, puncture or swelling due to pressure or impact
- Software-related high drain (apps, settings, system bugs)
Battery health percentage decreasing over time is normal and is not a warranty issue.
8. iMEND Certified Devices warranty
iMEND Certified Devices are second-hand phones and devices that have passed our internal checks. Each certified device comes with a limited hardware warranty, the length of which will be clearly stated at the time of sale.
Covered under the certified device warranty:
- Internal hardware faults not caused by damage or misuse
- Defective components that fail under normal use within the warranty period
Not covered under the certified device warranty:
- Cracked screens, smashed glass, dents or impact damage
- Liquid or moisture damage
- Damage caused by third-party repair attempts
- Software problems, account locks or forgotten passwords
- Normal battery wear and cosmetic issues
Devices must be returned in the same general condition, without additional damage, for warranty to be assessed.
9. Data, backup & water resistance
9.1 Data & backup
While we take care when handling your device, iMEND is not responsible for any data loss, corruption or changes to settings. Customers are strongly advised to:
- Back up their device (photos, contacts, files, apps) before any repair
- Remove or log out of sensitive accounts where possible
9.2 Waterproof / water-resistance
Most devices lose their original water-resistance once opened. After any repair, iMEND cannot guarantee any level of water-resistance, even if adhesive seals or gaskets are replaced. Water or liquid damage after a repair is not covered by warranty.
10. Devices not collected & diagnostic fees
10.1 Uncollected devices
Devices left uncollected for more than 60 days from the date of notification may be securely recycled or disposed of. iMEND will make reasonable attempts to contact the customer before this happens.
10.2 Diagnostic / inspection fees
In some cases, especially for complex faults or motherboard issues, iMEND may charge a diagnostic or inspection fee. This fee covers the time and work required to test and assess the device. The fee will be explained in advance wherever possible.
11. How to make a warranty claim
If you believe you have a warranty issue:
- Stop using the device if further damage is likely.
- Bring the device back to iMEND as soon as possible together with your original receipt or proof of purchase.
- Our technicians will inspect the device to determine whether the issue is linked to our previous repair or device, and whether there are signs of damage, liquid, impact or third-party tampering.
If the fault is covered by the warranty, iMEND will provide the appropriate remedy as described in this policy. If the issue is not covered, we will explain the reason and, where possible, offer a paid repair option.
12. Limitation of liability & statutory rights
Your statutory rights come first. Nothing in this section reduces the rights you have under Irish and EU consumer law, and where those rights give you more than this policy does, they are what applies.
Subject to that, and to the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability for a repair is limited to putting the repair right: re-performing the work, replacing the part we fitted, or refunding what you paid for it. Which of those is appropriate is agreed with you rather than decided for you.
iMEND is not liable for:
- Any indirect, consequential or incidental loss (including loss of data, loss of business, loss of profits or loss of use)
- Any damage arising from customer misuse, neglect, impact, liquid, or work carried out by third parties after our repair.
Nothing in this Warranty Policy is intended to exclude or limit any rights you may have under Irish or EU consumer protection law. If any part of this policy is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining sections shall continue to apply.
By leaving a device with iMEND for repair, or by purchasing an iMEND Certified Device, you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to this Warranty Policy.
