None of this is compulsory and we will never turn you away for skipping it. But five minutes before you leave the house makes the repair faster and takes the worry out of it.
Mon to Sat 10 to 6A screen, battery or charging port repair does not touch your storage, so nothing should happen to your files. The reason to back up anyway is that a device which is already faulty can fail further at any moment, including before we have touched it.
iPhone: Settings, your name, iCloud, iCloud Backup, Back Up Now. Android: Settings, Google, Backup. Either runs in the background while you finish your coffee.
If the screen is cracked but the phone still works, do it now rather than after. A cracked panel can lose touch response entirely without warning, and then the backup is no longer possible.
Bring the device, your charging cable if you have a charging fault, and the case off. If the phone is under a manufacturer warranty or you have had it repaired before, mention it at the counter, because a previous repair changes where we look first.
Leave the SIM in or take it out, it makes no difference to us. Take out a memory card if there is one, because it is the one thing we would rather not be responsible for.
You do not need proof of purchase for a repair. You do need photo identification if you are selling or trading a device in, which is a legal requirement rather than a shop policy.
Do not turn it on. Do not plug it in to see if it charges. Do not put it in rice, which does nothing except get starch into the ports. Every one of those does more damage than the liquid did.
The water is rarely what kills a board. What kills it is current running through a wet or corroding circuit, and every attempt to power it up sends current through it again.
Turn it off if it is on, leave it off, and bring it in the same day if you can. Time matters here more than on any other repair, because corrosion keeps going while the phone sits in a drawer.

Or book collection and return and we will come to you. That runs Monday to Friday across Dublin, and the device comes back the same way once it is done.
If you are not sure whether the fault is worth a trip, ring us on 085 200 1155 or send a photo on WhatsApp. We would rather tell you not to bother than have you cross the city for something we cannot fix.

Only if you are happy to. It helps us test properly, and it goes on the paper docket that gets shredded rather than into any system. Plenty of repairs are done without one.
Turn it off if it is on and leave it off. Do not charge it, do not try to power it up, and do not use rice. Then bring it in the same day if you can, because corrosion continues while it sits.
Not for a normal screen or battery repair. If a job needs it we will ask at the counter and explain why, rather than ringing you halfway through.
Not for a repair. You do need photo ID if you are selling or trading in a device, which is a legal requirement rather than something we invented.
