Walk in
- 4 Richmond Road, Drumcondra, Dublin 3
- No appointment needed during opening hours
- Same-day service on most phones, depending on device health
Some faults are obvious at the counter and get a price in a minute. Others are worth a proper look before anyone quotes a number. Both are free, and you get a firm price before we start either way.
Mon to Sat 10 to 6A cracked screen on a model we stock. A battery on a phone that is holding half a day. A charging port on a handset that charges when you hold the cable at an angle. These are the bulk of what comes through the door and they have a price on the site already.
For those the diagnostic is a two-minute check that there is nothing else going on: that the frame is not bent, that the phone was not underwater last week, that the fault you are describing is the fault the phone actually has.
That check matters more than it sounds. A bent frame turns a straightforward screen replacement into a screen that will crack again in a fortnight, and it is much better to know before we open it than after.
A phone with no sign of life. Liquid damage of any kind. A device that reboots at random, overheats, or drains a full battery in three hours. A laptop that powers but shows nothing. None of these have an honest price at the counter, because the fault could be a twenty euro part or a board-level repair.
For those we take it in, open it, and find out. That means power rail measurements on the board, checking what the device draws when it should be idle, and on liquid damage, looking at what the corrosion has actually reached under a microscope.
Then we call you with a price and what we found, and you decide. Nothing gets repaired because it was already open.
Nothing. Not for the quick check at the counter and not for the long one on the bench, and that is true whether you go ahead with the repair or not.
The reason it is free is that we would rather turn work away early than take in a device we cannot fix and charge somebody for the disappointment. It also keeps us honest: a shop that charges for diagnostics has a reason to find something.
No fix, no fee means exactly that. If we cannot repair it, you pay nothing at all, and you get the device back in the state it arrived in.
A firm price before any work starts, not a range. If the price would change once we are inside, we say so up front and we call you before it does, rather than presenting it at the till.
What we found, in plain terms. If your charging problem was compacted lint in the port and a failed cable, we will tell you that and clean it out, and you will not be sold a port replacement you did not need.
And when it is not worth repairing. On an older device where the repair costs more than the phone is worth, we say so. That conversation loses us the job and it is the reason people come back.
No. Not for the quick check at the counter and not for the longer one on the bench, whether you go ahead with the repair or not.
If we cannot repair your device you pay nothing at all: no diagnostic fee, no handling charge, no parts. You get it back in the state it arrived in.
Because nobody honestly can. Liquid damage ranges from a clean and a new battery to a board repair, and the only way to know is to open it and look at what the corrosion has reached.
A couple of minutes at the counter for a common fault. A device with no sign of life or liquid damage stays with us, usually same day, sometimes overnight if we want to check it again once it has been warm.
No. We call you with what we found and a price, and you decide. Nothing gets repaired because it happened to be open already.
Often not. Compacted lint in the port and a cable that has failed at the strain point are both more common and both cheaper, and we check those first rather than quoting for a port.
Yes, and we do it regularly. If the repair costs more than the device is worth we will say so, and we will tell you what the device is worth as a trade-in instead.
Usually. Bring it in, including any screws or parts you were given back. It is worth mentioning up front, because a previous repair changes where we look first.
