The iPhone 12 came out in 2020, with a 6.1 inch Super Retina XDR OLED display and the A14 Bionic chip. It charges over Lightning and it unlocks with Face ID. The faults a water damage treatment puts right.
- It went in water and still worksThe most deceptive one. Corrosion starts immediately and keeps going, so a phone that survived the swim often fails days later.
- The screen is discoloured, patchy or flickeringLiquid under the display. The panel may be the least of it.
- The speaker is muffled or cracklingWater in the speaker mesh. Sometimes it clears, often it has already taken the driver.
- It charges intermittently since the spillCorrosion in the port. Charging a corroded port makes it worse quickly.

Is it definitely the liquid?
Liquid damage is the one repair where what you do in the first hour matters more than what we do afterwards.
IfIt is wet right now
Turn it off and leave it off. Do not charge it, do not press the buttons, and do not put it in rice. Rice does nothing but hold moisture against the phone. Bring it in as soon as you can.
IfIt went in salt water or anything sugary
Treat it as urgent. Salt and sugar are far more aggressive than clean water and the window before permanent damage is much shorter.
IfIt is wet right now
Turn it off and leave it off. No charging, no button pressing, and no rice. Rice does not draw moisture out of a sealed device, it just holds the phone somewhere humid while corrosion carries on.
IfOnly one thing is wrong, like the speaker
Have the whole device assessed anyway. One symptom after a soaking rarely means only one thing is affected.
IfThe data matters more than the phone
Say that first. Recovering the data and recovering the phone are sometimes different routes, and starting the wrong way round can cost you both.

What parts do we fit?
Two tiers, and you choose knowing which is which: a genuine Apple service part where one is made for this component, or premium aftermarket where none is. The warranty is 360 days on either.
We will not describe a part as genuine, original or Apple certified unless that is what is going into your phone. If the honest answer is premium aftermarket, that is what we say at the counter.

Will my data be safe?
Nothing about this repair requires reading what is on the device, and nobody here does.
Testing is a different matter. To prove a repair works we have to turn the device on and use it, which sometimes means asking for your passcode. Say no if you prefer and we will show you exactly which checks we cannot complete without it. Where you do give it, it is written on the paper docket and the docket is shredded. There is deliberately no field for a passcode in our system.
Take a backup before you come in. It is free, it takes two minutes on a device that still works, and it is the one thing nobody regrets having done.
Will it still survive a splash?
Treat the device as no longer water resistant after any repair, including this one.
An IP rating is measured on a brand new, factory sealed device in a laboratory. It is a description of how that device left the factory, not a property it keeps. Heat, age and everyday knocks degrade the seal long before anybody opens it, which is why phones that have never been repaired still let water in.
Opening a device means cutting through adhesive. We refit with fresh adhesive, which gives you back a physical seal that keeps rain and splashes out. What we will not do is claim the original rating is restored, because there is no way for us or for any independent shop in Ireland to test that.
If the device lives near water, tell us when you book. It changes what we recommend and it is a two minute conversation rather than a surprise afterwards.
The 360-day warranty
Every completed repair is covered for 360 days on the part and the workmanship. If the display we fitted fails, or the fitting was at fault, we put it right at no charge.
What it does not cover is a new accident. A phone dropped again after the repair, fresh physical damage, liquid damage, or a fault in a part we did not touch, all sit outside it. That is the same limit any honest repair warranty has.
No fix, no fee. The diagnostic is free, and if the repair does not happen you pay nothing.
