The iPhone 16 Plus arrived in 2024, with a 6.7 inch Super Retina XDR OLED display and the A18 chip. Charging is over USB-C and it unlocks with Face ID. It is rated IP68. - Cracked or shattered rear panelThe phone works, the back is broken. Mostly cosmetic at first, and it does not stay that way.

The back is the one repair where doing nothing is a reasonable choice for a while, so it is worth being straight about when it is not.

There is no urgency. Put a case on it and book when it suits. It is worth knowing the phone is no longer sealed against water.

Get it done. Loose glass spreads, and it makes a straightforward job into a longer one.

Worth doing. A cracked back takes more off a trade-in valuation than the repair costs on most models.

Bring it in before anything is ordered. A new back does not sit right on a bent frame and we would rather tell you that first.

What parts do we fit?
Genuine Apple service parts where they exist for the component, and premium aftermarket where they do not. You are told which one your repair uses before you agree to it, and the 360-day warranty is the same either way.
We will not describe a part as genuine, original or Apple certified unless that is what is going into your phone. If the honest answer is premium aftermarket, that is what we say at the counter.

Will my data be safe?
This is hardware work. We do not need to go into your photos, messages or accounts to do it, and we do not.
We do need to switch the device on and use it to test the repair, so we may ask for your passcode. If you would rather not hand it over, tell us and we will show you what we cannot verify without it. Any passcode you give us goes on the paper docket and the docket gets shredded. It is never stored in our system.
Back the device up before any repair. Not because we expect to lose anything, but because a device that has already been dropped is one whose storage has already been shaken, and a backup costs nothing.
What about the water resistance?
Treat the phone as no longer water resistant after any repair, including ours.
Apple's IP68 rating is measured on a brand new, factory sealed phone under controlled laboratory conditions. It is not a permanent property of the device. The seal degrades with age, heat and everyday knocks long before anybody opens it.
Opening a phone means cutting through that seal. We refit the display with fresh adhesive, which restores a physical seal and keeps ordinary splashes and rain out. What we will not do is tell you it is back to IP68, because we have no way to test that and neither does any independent shop in Ireland.
If your phone lives near water, say so when you book and we will talk you through what the adhesive does and does not cover.
The 360-day warranty
Every completed repair is covered for 360 days on the part and the workmanship. If the display we fitted fails, or the fitting was at fault, we put it right at no charge.
What it does not cover is a new accident. A phone dropped again after the repair, fresh physical damage, liquid damage, or a fault in a part we did not touch, all sit outside it. That is the same limit any honest repair warranty has.
No fix, no fee. The diagnostic is free, and if the repair does not happen you pay nothing.

It depends on the phone and on you. It is cosmetic while the glass stays put, so there is no urgency if nothing is lifting. Two things change that: loose pieces spread and cut, and a cracked back takes more off a trade-in valuation than the repair usually costs.
It should, and we test it before you get the phone back. The charging coil sits directly under the rear panel, so it is one of the things a rear glass repair can disturb.
Not while it is flat and holding together. It becomes urgent when the glass starts lifting, because loose glass cuts fingers and lets dust and moisture inside.
On several phones the back glass is bonded to the frame and has to be taken out in pieces with heat, and on some it is separated with a laser. The part is cheap; the removal is the job.
Treat it as no longer water resistant from the moment it broke rather than from the moment we open it. Fresh adhesive keeps rain and splashes out; nobody outside a laboratory restores an IP rating.
