The iPhone 17 arrived in 2025, with a 6.3 inch Super Retina XDR OLED display and the A19 chip. It charges over USB-C and it unlocks with Face ID. There is an aluminium frame, and it is rated IP68. Two cameras on the back and a Camera Control button on the right edge. The 6.3 inch screen is slightly larger than the iPhone 16's 6.1. A3520 is the model sold here.

The faults a charging port repair puts right.
- Only charges held at an angleThe classic worn or dirty port. The pins are not making contact until you push the plug where it should not need to go.
- Stops and starts while plugged inThe connection is intermittent. Often lint compacted at the bottom of the port holding the plug a millimetre short.
- It charges only when you hold the cable at an angleWorn contacts or a port that has been pulled sideways. Holding it is the last stage before it stops entirely.
- It charges from a plug but the computer will not see itData pins rather than power pins. Same port, and it tells us which side of it has failed.
- The cable falls out on its ownLint packed behind the contacts, or a port whose retention clips have worn. The first is a clean and the second is a replacement.
- It got hot around the port while chargingStop using that cable. A hot port is worth looking at before it takes the board with it.
Before you spend anything
Is it definitely the charging port?
This is the repair most often quoted when it is not needed, so it is worth going through properly.
IfIt charges when you press the plug in hard
Very often compacted pocket lint rather than a failed port. We clean and test before quoting a replacement, and frequently the clean is the whole repair.
IfIt charges from the wall but not from a computer
Power and data are different pins. That narrows it to the port rather than the battery or the board, which is useful to know before we open anything.
IfIt got wet and then stopped charging
This is a liquid damage assessment first. Corrosion spreads, and fitting a new port onto a corroding board wastes the part.
IfThe phone is dead and does not respond to any charger
Start with a diagnostic. A dead phone is not the same problem as a bad port, and we would rather find out which before you pay.
IfIt charges fine but slowly
Try another plug first. Slow charging is very often the charger rather than the phone.
If you are not sure which of these you have, that is what the free diagnostic is for. It costs nothing and it is the step that stops people paying for the wrong repair.
What parts do we fit?
Two tiers, and you choose knowing which is which: a genuine Apple service part where one is made for this component, or premium aftermarket where none is. The warranty is 360 days on either.
Nobody here will call a part original when it is not. If what fits your phone is premium aftermarket, you hear that word at the counter rather than reading it on a docket afterwards.

Will my data be safe?
Nothing about this repair requires reading what is on the device, and nobody here does.
Testing is a different matter. To prove a repair works we have to turn the device on and use it, which sometimes means asking for your passcode. Say no if you prefer and we will show you exactly which checks we cannot complete without it. Where you do give it, it is written on the paper docket and the docket is shredded. There is deliberately no field for a passcode in our system.
Take a backup before you come in. It is free, it takes two minutes on a device that still works, and it is the one thing nobody regrets having done.
What about the water resistance?
Treat the phone as no longer water resistant after any repair, including ours.
Apple's IP68 rating is measured on a brand new, factory sealed phone under controlled laboratory conditions. It is not a permanent property of the device. The seal degrades with age, heat and everyday knocks long before anybody opens it.
Opening a phone means cutting through that seal. We refit the display with fresh adhesive, which restores a physical seal and keeps ordinary splashes and rain out. What we will not do is tell you it is back to IP68, because we have no way to test that and neither does any independent shop in Ireland.
If your phone lives near water, say so when you book and we will talk you through what the adhesive does and does not cover.
The 360-day warranty
Every completed repair is covered for 360 days on the part and the workmanship. If the display we fitted fails, or the fitting was at fault, we put it right at no charge.
What it does not cover is a new accident. A phone dropped again after the repair, fresh physical damage, liquid damage, or a fault in a part we did not touch, all sit outside it. That is the same limit any honest repair warranty has.
No fix, no fee. The diagnostic is free, and if the repair does not happen you pay nothing.

No, and this is the repair most often replaced when it did not need to be. A very large share of phones that will not charge have compacted pocket lint holding the plug a fraction short of the pins. We clean and test first, and where that fixes it, that is what you pay for.
Yes. Wireless charging does not use the port at all, which is also a useful way to keep a phone going until you can get the port sorted.
Very often, and it is the first thing we check. Pocket lint compacts at the bottom of the port a little further with every cable insertion until the plug can no longer reach the pins. Where a clean fixes it, that is what you pay for.
Carefully, with the phone off and a wooden toothpick. Never a pin or a paperclip, and never compressed air into the port. Bent pins turn a free clean into a paid replacement.
