The MacBook Pro 16-inch (M3) arrived in 2023, with a 16.2 inch Liquid Retina XDR mini-LED with ProMotion display and the M3 Pro or M3 Max chip. The ports are MagSafe 3, three Thunderbolt 4, HDMI, SDXC and headphone and it unlocks with Touch ID in the power button. There is an aluminium frame. The largest MacBook, with a notch in the display, a MagSafe port on the left and a full-size HDMI and SD card slot on the right. Ireland gets the A2991.

What this fixes

The faults a screen repair puts right.

  • Ghost touch, where the phone taps by itselfTypically a failing digitiser, and sometimes a charger putting noise into the phone. Worth telling us what you were doing when it started.
  • Dead patches that never register a tapA localised digitiser failure. It does not spread evenly and it does not recover.
  • Glass lifting away from the frameOften a swelling battery pushing the display out. This one is genuinely urgent, and the fix may be a battery rather than a screen.
  • The screen is bright at the top and dim along one edgeUneven backlighting on an LCD, or an OLED starting to fail. Either way it is the panel.
  • Touch that works but registers slightly off to one sideA digitiser that has shifted or been fitted badly. Common on a phone that has been opened before.
  • The screen goes black in a phone call and stays blackThe proximity sensor rather than the display. It sits in the assembly and it is a much smaller fault than it looks.
Before you spend anything

Is it definitely the screen?

A screen replacement is the right answer more often than not, and it is still worth ten minutes of checking. These are the patterns that change the job.

IfTouch fails only while charging
Try a different cable and plug first. Noise from a poor-quality charger produces exactly this, and it costs nothing to rule out.
IfThe display is fine but the glass is lifting at one edge
Check the battery before the screen. A swelling battery lifts the display from underneath, and replacing the screen without replacing the battery just breaks the new one.
IfIt was repaired somewhere else and has not been right since
Very often a connector that was not fully seated or a low-grade panel. Both are fixable, and the diagnostic tells you which before you spend anything.
IfThe display flickers only at the very lowest brightness
On many OLED panels that is how the screen dims rather than a fault. If it stops above about ten percent brightness there is probably nothing to repair.
IfBurn-in with no crack and no impact
The panel has aged. It is a display replacement and nothing else will change it, so it comes down to whether the phone is worth it to you.

If you are not sure which of these you have, that is what the free diagnostic is for. It costs nothing and it is the step that stops people paying for the wrong repair.

What parts do we fit?

Where Apple supplies a service part for this component, that is what goes in. Where it does not, we fit premium aftermarket and say so. Which of the two you are getting is settled before you agree to anything, and the 360-day warranty does not change between them.

The words genuine and Apple certified mean something specific and we only use them when they are true of the part in front of us. Anything else is described as premium aftermarket, plainly.

  • A MacBook display is ordered as a complete lid assembly. The panel, the hinges, the antennas and the camera come as one unit, which is why the part is a large share of the price.
  • The model number on the underside of the case is what the part is chosen by, not the name on the box. Two MacBooks of the same size and year can take different panels.

OLED, soft OLED and LCD: why one screen costs twice another

What the Free diagnostic includes

  • The complete display assembly, glass and panel as one unit
  • Biometric and sensor components transferred from your original screen
  • Fitting, calibration and a full function test
  • 360-day warranty on the part and the workmanship

Nothing extra gets done and charged for without you saying yes to it. Where the diagnostic turns up a second fault, the work stops there and you hear the price before it goes any further.

If getting here is the problem, we collect and return across Dublin from Monday to Friday. It costs the same repair price and carries the same 360-day warranty.

Choose the part

Two tiers, named before you agree.

A screen is the one repair where the tier changes what you look at every day, so it is worth thirty seconds.

iMEND Premium

Original or manufacturer-grade part

The panel the phone left the factory with. True Tone and the brightness curve are exactly as they were, and there is no parts notice in settings. It costs the most and on a newer phone it is often the right answer.

Priced at the counter

Value Edition

Premium aftermarket, tested to the same standard

A panel made to the original specification by somebody other than the manufacturer, tested for colour, brightness and touch before it goes in. On a phone that is three years old and going in a case, this is frequently what we would fit to our own.

Priced at the counter

The price for this repair is confirmed after a free diagnostic. Which tier suits your device is a conversation at the counter, and the price for each is on the table before you decide. The 360-day warranty is the same on both, because we would not offer a tier we did not think would last.

The tell is not day one, it is month six: how the panel dims at the low end, whether touch keeps up with fast typing, and how the coating wears. We will say which tier we would put in your phone if it were ours.

The parts we use, in full

How we do it

From the counter to back in your hand.

Tell us what it is doing

Book online in about two minutes, or walk in without an appointment. Either way, describe the symptom rather than the repair. It is more useful to us.

Free diagnostic

We confirm the fault is the display and not something behind it. This costs nothing and it is the step that stops you paying for the wrong repair.

You approve the price

You get the exact figure before anything is opened. Nothing else is done without asking you first.

The assembly is replaced

The old display comes off, the biometric and sensor parts transfer across, the new assembly goes on and gets calibrated.

Bench testing

Touch, brightness, face or fingerprint unlock, front camera, earpiece and proximity, checked before we call you.

Back in your hands

Collected from Drumcondra, or returned to your door if we picked it up. Covered for 360 days.

Before it goes back

What we test every time.

A repair is not finished when the part is fitted. It is finished when the things around it have been checked.

Touch across the whole panel

Edge to edge, including the corners, where a poorly seated assembly shows up first.

Face unlock or fingerprint

Whichever your device uses. On most phones the sensor lives in or under the display and moves across with it.

Front camera and earpiece

Both sit in the display assembly and both get disturbed during the job.

Multi-touch

Several fingers at once, because a panel can pass a single-finger test and fail the moment you type.

Will my data be safe?

A screen replacement is hardware work. We do not need to go into your photos, messages or accounts to do it, and we do not.

We do need to switch the phone on and use it to test the repair, so we may ask for your passcode. If you would rather not hand it over, tell us and we will show you what we cannot verify without it. Any passcode you give us goes on the paper docket and the docket gets shredded. It is never stored in our system.

Back the phone up before any repair. Not because we expect to lose anything, but because a phone that has already been dropped is a phone whose storage has already been shaken, and a backup costs nothing.

Is it still water resistant afterwards?

Treat the phone as no longer water resistant after any repair, including ours.

A manufacturer's IP68 rating is measured on a brand new, factory sealed device under controlled laboratory conditions. It is not a permanent property of the device. The seal degrades with age, heat and everyday knocks long before anybody opens it.

Opening a phone means cutting through that seal. We refit the display with fresh adhesive, which restores a physical seal and keeps ordinary splashes and rain out. What we will not do is tell you it is back to IP68, because we have no way to test that and neither does any independent shop in Ireland.

If your phone lives near water, say so when you book and we will talk you through what the adhesive does and does not cover.

The 360-day warranty

Every completed repair is covered for 360 days on the part and the workmanship. If the display we fitted fails, or the fitting was at fault, we put it right at no charge.

What it does not cover is a new accident. A phone dropped again after the repair, fresh physical damage, liquid damage, or a fault in a part we did not touch, all sit outside it. That is the same limit any honest repair warranty has.

No fix, no fee. The diagnostic is free, and if the repair does not happen you pay nothing.

Three ways to get it to us

  • Walk in to Drumcondra4 Richmond Road, Dublin 3. No appointment. Mon to Sat 10:00 to 18:00, closed Sunday. Most phone screens and batteries done in 15 to 45 minutes while you wait.
  • We collect and returnDoor to door across Dublin, Monday to Friday, usually 2 to 4 working days. The repair takes the same time; the courier is the difference.
  • Send it in yourselfPost it to the shop with a tracked, insured service and a note with your number. We cannot cover a parcel in transit, and that is the honest trade-off for the route existing.

Same repair price and the same 360-day warranty on all three. The only thing that changes is how the device travels.

Asked all the time

MacBook Pro 16-inch (M3) screen questions.

We quote it after a free diagnostic, because the price depends on what we find. No fix, no fee, so if we cannot repair it you pay nothing.

15 to 45 minutes for most phones. If the diagnostic turns up something else, or a part has to be ordered, we tell you before you commit rather than after.

That depends on the grade you choose and we tell you which one is going in before you agree. A genuine service part where one exists for your model, otherwise a premium aftermarket panel. The 360-day warranty is the same either way, and we will not describe a part as original when it is not.

Several manufacturers pair the panel to the board, so a replacement can show a notice in settings even when the repair is sound and everything works. It is a parts message, not a fault, and we tell you if your model does it before we start.

On a handful of older models, yes, where the glass and the display are separate layers. On everything current they are bonded, and splitting them is a gamble with your display that we are not willing to take with somebody else's phone.

No. A screen replacement does not touch your storage. Back it up anyway, because that is good advice on any day, not just the day a repair is booked.

No, and that is the reason we ask which model you have before quoting. Panels differ by size, by technology and by how the biometric sensor is mounted, and a screen from the closest-looking sibling will not fit.

iMEND is an independent repair service. Brand and model names are used only to describe the devices we repair. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or an authorised service provider for any manufacturer.

Why bring it here

An independent workshop, not a kiosk.

We are a dedicated repair bench in Dublin 3. That means we take on work authorised channels turn away, and we tell you honestly when something is not worth fixing.

Diagnosed, not guessed

Every device is tested before we quote, so you are not paying for a part that was never the problem.

Parts that last

Genuine or OEM-grade components chosen for your model. We tell you which is going in before we start.

Your data stays yours

Hardware-only repairs. We never read, copy or move anything on your device.

No fix, no fee

If we cannot repair it, there is nothing to pay. No diagnostic fee, no handling charge.

Customer reviews

The screen stopped working on my iPhone 13 mini - it had recently been repaired elsewhere. I got a warm welcome in the shop, and a phone to borrow while mine was in for diagnostics and repair. An issue with the battery was also detected and I am very happy with the new screen and battery and appreciated the excellent service and communication.
