The Pixel 9 Pro XL arrived in 2024, with a 6.8 inch Super Actua LTPO OLED display and the Google Tensor G4 chip. It charges over USB-C and it unlocks with a fingerprint reader under the display. Is it definitely the front camera?
The front camera shares its assembly with Face ID and the proximity sensor, so what else is failing tells us a lot.
IfThe camera is black but Face ID still works
That points at the camera module alone, which is the simpler and cheaper of the two jobs.
IfIt stopped right after a screen repair somewhere else
The front camera and Face ID transfer across during a screen replacement, and a rushed transfer is the usual cause. Bring it in and we will tell you what we find.
IfIt is hazy rather than black
Look for moisture behind the lens. If the phone has been wet this is a liquid damage assessment first.
IfFace unlock stopped at the same time
Say so at the counter. On several phones that is a different and more involved part than the camera alone.
IfIt went soft with no drop and no repair
Sometimes the adhesive holding the lens has failed. It is still a module job and it is not expensive.
If you are not sure which of these you have, that is what the free diagnostic is for. It costs nothing and it is the step that stops people paying for the wrong repair.
What parts do we fit?
Two tiers, and you choose knowing which is which: a genuine Google service part where one is made for this component, or premium aftermarket where none is. The warranty is 360 days on either.
We will not describe a part as genuine, original or Google certified unless that is what is going into your phone. If the honest answer is premium aftermarket, that is what we say at the counter.

Will my data be safe?
We are replacing a part, not reading a phone. Your photos, messages and accounts are not something this job touches.
The one place it comes up is testing. A repair is not finished until it has been used, and using a locked device means a passcode. You are welcome to withhold it, and we will tell you which checks that leaves undone rather than quietly skipping them. A passcode you do give us lives on a paper docket that gets shredded, never in a database.
Back it up first if you can. A device that has taken a knock has had its storage shaken whether or not anything looks wrong, and a backup is free insurance against the day that matters.
Will it still survive a splash?
Treat the phone as no longer water resistant after any repair, including ours.
Apple's IP68 rating is measured on a brand new, factory sealed phone under controlled laboratory conditions. It is not a permanent property of the device. The seal degrades with age, heat and everyday knocks long before anybody opens it.
Opening a phone means cutting through that seal. We refit the display with fresh adhesive, which restores a physical seal and keeps ordinary splashes and rain out. What we will not do is tell you it is back to IP68, because we have no way to test that and neither does any independent shop in Ireland.
If your phone lives near water, say so when you book and we will talk you through what the adhesive does and does not cover.
The 360-day warranty
Every completed repair is covered for 360 days on the part and the workmanship. If the display we fitted fails, or the fitting was at fault, we put it right at no charge.
What it does not cover is a new accident. A phone dropped again after the repair, fresh physical damage, liquid damage, or a fault in a part we did not touch, all sit outside it. That is the same limit any honest repair warranty has.
No fix, no fee. The diagnostic is free, and if the repair does not happen you pay nothing.

On most models the front camera and the Face ID components are separate parts in one assembly, so the camera can be replaced without touching Face ID. We check yours before we start and tell you if that is not true of your model.
The front camera and Face ID flex have to be transferred to the new display during a screen replacement. Done in a hurry it gets damaged, and that is one of the most common reasons a phone arrives here with a dead selfie camera.
Sometimes, and not always. The dot projector is paired to your phone at the factory, so if that specific component has failed it often cannot be replaced with a working one. We will tell you straight rather than charging you to find out.
On most phones it is mounted in the display assembly rather than the body, so it comes out with the screen. That is also why it sometimes stops working after a screen repair done badly.
