Google Pixel: camera blurry, or will not focus
Pixel image quality leans heavily on processing, so a Pixel taking bad photos is worth checking in software before assuming hardware. If it is the module, we say so.
Mon to Sat 10 to 6
What causes it
- A cracked lens cover over the camera, which is a small cheap part
- A failed autofocus motor in the module, which sounds like a rattle
- Debris or moisture behind the lens
- A failed module after an impact
What to do right now
- Clean the lens properly, because a smear is responsible more often than anyone admits
- Try each camera separately: wide, ultrawide and telephoto
- Shake the phone gently and listen for a rattle, which points at the focus motor
- Check whether the lens cover glass is cracked rather than the image being soft
What we check at the bench.
- Whether the lens cover or the module is at fault, which decides the price
- Each camera in turn, at every focal length
- Stabilisation, which fails separately and shows as blur in video
- The board connector, since a partially seated camera behaves like a failed one

Rear Camera Repair starts from €120 depending on the model. No fix, no fee, so if we cannot repair it you pay nothing.
Two different jobs. A cracked lens cover over the camera is a small part and a quick fix. Blurry photos, a black frame, or a camera that will not focus usually means the module behind it. The diagnostic tells us which, and it is free.
Yes when we fit a genuine or equivalent-grade module, which is what we quote for. We shoot test photos and video at every focal length before it goes back to you.
Bring it in and we do it again at no cost, for 360 days from the repair, on the part and the workmanship both. That does not cover new accidental damage, which we will always be straight with you about.
Yes, and it is worth saying so at the counter, because a previous repair changes where we look first. Bring any screws or parts you were given back.
No. The diagnostic is free whether you go ahead with the repair or not, and that is true for the quick check at the counter and the longer one on the bench.
No. These are hardware repairs and we do not open, copy or erase anything on the device. Back it up first anyway, because any device that already has a fault can fail further while it is being worked on.
You pay nothing. No fix, no fee covers the diagnostic and the handling, so the only time you pay is when the device comes back working. If a repair turns out to cost more than the device is worth, we tell you that instead of doing it.
Card or cash at the counter when you collect. You get a firm price before any work starts.
Walk in. We are at 4 Richmond Road, Drumcondra, Dublin 3, open Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm and Saturday 10am to 5pm. Closed Sunday. You can also book online and we will confirm a slot, or ask us to collect the device anywhere in Dublin, Monday to Friday.
Saturday 10am to 5pm, Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm, closed Sunday. No appointment needed on any of those days.
