What causes it
- A face-down drop onto a hard edge, which breaks the panel rather than only the glass
- A corner impact that has travelled, so the picture fails days after the drop
- Weight in a back pocket, which cracks a phone across the middle
- A drop onto an already cracked screen, which is what turns cosmetic damage into a dead display
What to do right now
- Put tape or a screen protector over it before it sheds glass into your hand or your pocket
- Back it up now if the touch still works anywhere, because the next knock may take it
- Turn off face or fingerprint unlock if you can, so a passcode still gets you in
- Do not press on dark patches to see if they come back. They do not, and pressing spreads them

The same complaint covers several different faults. Find the line that matches and you have already narrowed it down.
- Glass broken, picture still perfectThe best version of this. It is still one part on most phones, so the price is the same, but nothing else has been damaged.
- Black patches or bleeding colourThe display itself has gone, not just the glass. It spreads, and it does not come back.
- Touch dead in a strip or a cornerThe digitiser is broken even where the picture looks fine. That is a replacement rather than a wait.
- White or grey screen with faint linesThe panel is broken internally. Often from a drop days earlier that seemed survivable at the time.
- Screen lifting away from the bodyCheck the battery before the screen. A swollen cell pushes the display out from underneath and it is the more urgent of the two.

What we check at the bench.
- Whether the frame has bent, because a new screen will not sit flat on a bent frame and will crack again
- The biometric parts on the assembly, which have to come across to the new screen or face unlock stops working
- The battery underneath for swelling or puncture, which a hard drop can cause
- Earpiece, sensors and front camera, all of which live on the screen assembly and all of which get broken by a rushed transfer
What it costs.
A screen is a fixed price per model, listed on that model's repair page, and it includes the part, the fitting, the testing and the 360-day warranty. There are two tiers on most models: the original manufacturer part where one exists, and a premium aftermarket panel, quoted separately so you choose.
Whatever it turns out to be, you get the price before anything is opened, and there is no fee if we cannot fix it. Every completed repair carries a 360-day warranty on the part we fitted and the work we did.

Yes. We test touch across the whole panel, plus brightness, the sensors and the front camera cutout, before the device goes back to you. If anything reads differently we refit it rather than hand it over.
It is worth it. A tempered glass protector takes the first impact and costs a fraction of a second screen repair. We fit one while you wait if you want it.
On almost every modern phone, no. The glass, the touch layer and the display are bonded into one assembly at the factory, so the whole assembly is what gets replaced. Anyone offering to change only the glass is either separating and rebonding it, which fails, or talking about a different device.
