The iPad (9th gen) came out in 2021, with a 10.2 inch Retina LCD display and the A13 Bionic chip. It charges over Lightning and it unlocks with Touch ID in the home button. There is 8MP wide on the back and an aluminium frame. A home button, a Lightning port and rounded sides. On this generation the glass and the display are separate layers, which sometimes makes a cracked front the cheaper repair. Ireland gets the A2602.

What this fixes

The faults a rear camera repair puts right.

  • A rattle when the camera opensThe stabiliser has come loose. You can hear it if you shake the phone gently near your ear, and it will not settle on its own.
  • The app opens to a black screenThe module is not being seen at all. Sometimes the camera, sometimes the connection to the board.
  • Only one of the lenses is affectedUseful to know. The wide, ultra wide and telephoto are separate modules and the price is not the same.
  • Only the ultrawide or the zoom is badOne module of several. Cheaper than it sounds, and worth saying which when you book.
  • Something rattles when you shake the phoneDamaged stabilisation. That is a module replacement rather than a clean.
  • It focuses and then drifts out againA failing autofocus motor. It does not settle down on its own.
Before you spend anything

Is it definitely the camera?

Cameras are the repair where software and hardware look most alike from the outside, so it is worth checking two things before booking.

IfThe camera app is black but the front camera works
That narrows it to the rear module or its connection. Force close the app and restart the phone once first, because occasionally that is all it is.
IfPhotos are hazy but the glass looks intact
Look at the lens in a strong light for internal condensation. If there is moisture behind it this is liquid damage, and a new camera fitted into a wet phone will fog too.
IfOnly the zoom is soft and the main lens is sharp
That is the telephoto module rather than the whole array. It is a different part and usually a different price, so ask before booking the full repair.
IfThe lens glass looks cracked in a raking light
That is the cover glass and not the camera. It is the cheaper of the two by a distance.
IfIt is only bad in low light
Compare it against another phone of the same model first. Some of what people take for a fault is how the phone has always performed.

If you are not sure which of these you have, that is what the free diagnostic is for. It costs nothing and it is the step that stops people paying for the wrong repair.

What parts do we fit?

Genuine Apple service parts where they exist for the component, and premium aftermarket where they do not. You are told which one your repair uses before you agree to it, and the 360-day warranty is the same either way.

The words genuine and Apple certified mean something specific and we only use them when they are true of the part in front of us. Anything else is described as premium aftermarket, plainly.

Genuine, OEM and aftermarket: what the words actually mean

    What the €120 includes

    • The replacement camera module fitted and seated
    • Camera glass replaced where it is part of the assembly
    • Focus, stabilisation and every lens tested
    • 360-day warranty on the part and the workmanship

You will not find work on the bill you did not agree to. If something else shows up while the tablet is open, we stop and ask rather than deciding for you.

If getting here is the problem, we collect and return across Dublin from Monday to Friday. It costs the same repair price and carries the same 360-day warranty.

    Choose the part

Two tiers, named before you agree.

Cameras are modules rather than tuned panels, so the tier gap is narrower than it is on a screen.

    iMEND Premium

    Original or manufacturer-grade part

The manufacturer's own module. On phones that calibrate the camera to the board this is the tier least likely to produce a notice in settings.

    Priced at the counter

    Value Edition

Premium aftermarket, tested to the same standard

Made to the original specification and tested before fitting. On an older phone this is usually the sensible call.

    Priced at the counter

The €120 on this page is our standard quote for this repair. Which tier suits your device is a conversation at the counter, and the price for each is on the table before you decide. The 360-day warranty is the same on both, because we would not offer a tier we did not think would last.

Check whether it is the lens cover glass rather than the module first. That is a different and much cheaper part, and half the blurry cameras that come in here need it rather than a camera.

The parts we use, in full

    How we do it

From the counter to back in your hand.

Tell us what it is doing

Book online in about two minutes, or walk in without an appointment. Describe the symptom rather than the repair, it is more useful to us.

    Free diagnostic

Nothing is opened or ordered until we know what failed. There is no charge for this and no obligation to go ahead afterwards.

    You approve the price

The price is confirmed to you before anything begins, and it does not move afterwards unless you agree to something else.

    The repair is carried out

Done at our Drumcondra bench by the technicians who do this every day.

    Bench testing

Nothing is handed back untested. The repaired part and its neighbours are all checked first.

    Back in your hands

Pick it up from Richmond Road or have it couriered back across Dublin. Either way it carries the 360-day warranty.

    Before it goes back

    What we test every time.

A repair is not finished when the part is fitted. It is finished when the things around it have been checked.

    Every lens

Wide, ultra wide and telephoto where fitted, because replacing one can disturb the others.

    Stabilisation

Checked in video, since that is what most people notice when it is wrong.

    Flash and torch

Both sit in the same assembly and both get disturbed during the job.

    Video stabilisation

Recorded while walking, because that is the only way a failing stabiliser shows itself.

Is anything on the device at risk?

We are replacing a part, not reading a phone. Your photos, messages and accounts are not something this job touches.

The one place it comes up is testing. A repair is not finished until it has been used, and using a locked device means a passcode. You are welcome to withhold it, and we will tell you which checks that leaves undone rather than quietly skipping them. A passcode you do give us lives on a paper docket that gets shredded, never in a database.

Back it up first if you can. A device that has taken a knock has had its storage shaken whether or not anything looks wrong, and a backup is free insurance against the day that matters.

    What about the water resistance?

After any repair, ours included, work on the assumption that the device is no longer water resistant.

The rating on the box was measured once, on a sealed unit, in controlled conditions. It was never a promise about the device three years later. Adhesive hardens, seals compress and a single drop can break the seal without leaving a mark you would notice.

We reseal with fresh adhesive and it does a real job: rain, splashes and a wet counter are all fine. A submerged phone is not, and we would rather say that plainly than let you find out.

If yours goes near water regularly, say so at the counter and we will tell you what the adhesive covers and what it does not.

    The 360-day warranty

Every completed repair is covered for 360 days on the part and the workmanship. If the display we fitted fails, or the fitting was at fault, we put it right at no charge.

What it does not cover is a new accident. A phone dropped again after the repair, fresh physical damage, liquid damage, or a fault in a part we did not touch, all sit outside it. That is the same limit any honest repair warranty has.

No fix, no fee. The diagnostic is free, and if the repair does not happen you pay nothing.

Three ways to get it to us

    • Walk in to Drumcondra4 Richmond Road, Dublin 3. No appointment. Mon to Sat 10:00 to 18:00, closed Sunday. Most phone screens and batteries done in 15 to 45 minutes while you wait.
    • We collect and returnDoor to door across Dublin, Monday to Friday, usually 2 to 4 working days. The repair takes the same time; the courier is the difference.
    • Send it in yourselfPost it to the shop with a tracked, insured service and a note with your number. We cannot cover a parcel in transit, and that is the honest trade-off for the route existing.

Same repair price and the same 360-day warranty on all three. The only thing that changes is how the device travels.

    Asked all the time

    iPad (9th gen) screen questions.

€120, including the part, the fitting, the testing and the 360-day warranty. VAT is included. You get that figure confirmed before anything is opened, and if we cannot repair the phone you pay nothing.

Usually same day. If the diagnostic turns up something else, or a part has to be ordered, we tell you before you commit rather than after.

Where a genuine manufacturer module is available for your model we fit that, and it behaves exactly as it did. Where it is not, a premium aftermarket module is very close, and we say which one is going in before you agree to it.

It can be. Focus motors fail on their own, and moisture gets behind a lens without the phone ever being submerged. It is worth a free diagnostic before you pay for a part.

Look at the glass over the lens in bright light at an angle. Cracks and deep scratches show clearly, and where they are there that is almost always the cause. The two are different parts at different prices and we confirm which before ordering.

Each lens has its own module and its own cover glass. Damage is usually to one of them rather than all, which is why we ask you to say which.

Genuine service parts where they exist for the model, and premium aftermarket where they do not. You are told which one before you agree to the repair.

iMEND is an independent repair service. Brand and model names are used only to describe the devices we repair. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or an authorised service provider for any manufacturer.

    Why bring it here

An independent workshop, not a kiosk.

We are a dedicated repair bench in Dublin 3. That means we take on work authorised channels turn away, and we tell you honestly when something is not worth fixing.

    Diagnosed, not guessed

Every device is tested before we quote, so you are not paying for a part that was never the problem.

    Parts that last

Genuine or OEM-grade components chosen for your model. We tell you which is going in before we start.

    Your data stays yours

Hardware-only repairs. We never read, copy or move anything on your device.

    No fix, no fee

If we cannot repair it, there is nothing to pay. No diagnostic fee, no handling charge.
