The MacBook Air 13-inch (M4) arrived in 2025, with a 13.6 inch Liquid Retina LCD display and the M4 chip. It carries MagSafe 3, two Thunderbolt 4 and headphone and it unlocks with Touch ID in the power button. There is an aluminium frame. Sky Blue is only sold on the M4 Air. The camera in the notch is the 12MP Center Stage camera rather than the 1080p one on earlier Airs. The one sold in Ireland is A3240.

What this fixes

The faults a dead device diagnostic puts right.

  • Nothing at all on the screenNo logo, no backlight, no response to the charger.
  • It vibrates or chimes but stays darkThe phone is running. That is a very different and usually cheaper problem than a dead one.
  • It got hot and then diedWorth mentioning. Heat before failure narrows down where to look considerably.
  • It vibrates but nothing appearsThe device is running. That points at the display or its connector rather than the power side.
  • It shows a logo and restarts, over and overA boot loop. Often software and often recoverable without replacing anything.
  • It gets warm on the charger and never startsSomething is drawing current. Worth a diagnostic before anything else is tried.
Before you spend anything

Is it definitely a power fault?

A dead phone is the one case where guessing is expensive, because every possible cause has a different price.

IfIt vibrates, chimes or connects to CarPlay but the screen is black
The phone is alive and you cannot see it. That is a display, a connector or a backlight fault, and it is a far better outcome than a dead board.
IfIt went dead after a drop
Something is disconnected or cracked inside. Usually recoverable, and worth telling us it was dropped.
IfIt went dead after getting wet
This is a liquid damage assessment, not a dead device diagnostic. Do not charge it in the meantime.
IfIt went in water first
Liquid damage takes priority. Do not charge it and do not keep trying to power it on.
IfThe battery is years old
Check that before anything else. A cell that cannot hold voltage under load produces exactly this.

If you are not sure which of these you have, that is what the free diagnostic is for. It costs nothing and it is the step that stops people paying for the wrong repair.

What parts do we fit?

Two tiers, and you choose knowing which is which: a genuine Apple service part where one is made for this component, or premium aftermarket where none is. The warranty is 360 days on either.

Nobody here will call a part original when it is not. If what fits your laptop is premium aftermarket, you hear that word at the counter rather than reading it on a docket afterwards.

Genuine, OEM and aftermarket: what the words actually mean

    What the €30 includes

    • A full diagnostic on the bench, free
    • A written answer on what has failed and what it costs
    • No further work until you have approved the price
    • No fee at all if we cannot fix it

No additional paid work happens without your approval. If the diagnostic finds something behind the part we are replacing, we stop, explain it and confirm the cost first.

Diagnostics from €25. A clean-up check is free.

Dublin collection and return is available on weekdays if you cannot make it in. Nothing about the price or the cover changes because the courier brought it.

    How we do it

From the counter to back in your hand.

Tell us what it is doing

Walk in during opening hours or book ahead, whichever suits. Tell us what the device is actually doing rather than what you think the fix is.

    Diagnostic

Nothing is opened or ordered until we know what failed. There is no charge for this and no obligation to go ahead afterwards.

    You approve the price

You hear the number first. If it is not worth it to you, that is a perfectly good answer and it costs you nothing.

    The repair is carried out

Carried out here in Drumcondra rather than sent away, by people who do this repair daily.

    Bench testing

The repaired function and the things around it are checked before we call you.

    Back in your hands

Pick it up from Richmond Road or have it couriered back across Dublin. Either way it carries the 360-day warranty.

    Before it goes back

    What we test every time.

A repair is not finished when the part is fitted. It is finished when the things around it have been checked.

    Battery and charging circuit

The two most common causes and the two cheapest to put right.

    Board inspection

Under magnification, where the answer is when everything else has been ruled out.

Charge behaviour on a known good supply

Because a failed charger and a failed device look identical from the outside.

    Storage integrity

Where the fault points that way, since it decides whether the data comes back.

    Will my data be safe?

We are replacing a part, not reading a phone. Your photos, messages and accounts are not something this job touches.

The one place it comes up is testing. A repair is not finished until it has been used, and using a locked device means a passcode. You are welcome to withhold it, and we will tell you which checks that leaves undone rather than quietly skipping them. A passcode you do give us lives on a paper docket that gets shredded, never in a database.

Back it up first if you can. A device that has taken a knock has had its storage shaken whether or not anything looks wrong, and a backup is free insurance against the day that matters.

Will it still survive a splash?

Treat the device as no longer water resistant after any repair, including this one.

An IP rating is measured on a brand new, factory sealed device in a laboratory. It is a description of how that device left the factory, not a property it keeps. Heat, age and everyday knocks degrade the seal long before anybody opens it, which is why phones that have never been repaired still let water in.

Opening a device means cutting through adhesive. We refit with fresh adhesive, which gives you back a physical seal that keeps rain and splashes out. What we will not do is claim the original rating is restored, because there is no way for us or for any independent shop in Ireland to test that.

If the device lives near water, tell us when you book. It changes what we recommend and it is a two minute conversation rather than a surprise afterwards.

    The 360-day warranty

Every completed repair is covered for 360 days on the part and the workmanship. If the display we fitted fails, or the fitting was at fault, we put it right at no charge.

What it does not cover is a new accident. A phone dropped again after the repair, fresh physical damage, liquid damage, or a fault in a part we did not touch, all sit outside it. That is the same limit any honest repair warranty has.

No fix, no fee. The diagnostic is from €25, and if the repair does not happen you pay nothing.

Three ways to get it to us

    • Walk in to Drumcondra4 Richmond Road, Dublin 3. No appointment. Mon to Sat 10:00 to 18:00, closed Sunday. Most phone screens and batteries done in 15 to 45 minutes while you wait.
    • We collect and returnDoor to door across Dublin, Monday to Friday, usually 2 to 4 working days. The repair takes the same time; the courier is the difference.
    • Send it in yourselfPost it to the shop with a tracked, insured service and a note with your number. We cannot cover a parcel in transit, and that is the honest trade-off for the route existing.

Same repair price and the same 360-day warranty on all three. The only thing that changes is how the device travels.

    Asked all the time

MacBook Air 13-inch (M4) screen questions.

€30, including the part, the fitting, the testing and the 360-day warranty. VAT is included. You get that figure confirmed before anything is opened, and if we cannot repair the phone you pay nothing.

Assessed first, then quoted. If the diagnostic turns up something else, or a part has to be ordered, we tell you before you commit rather than after.

A clean-up check is free. Any other diagnostic on the MacBook Air 13-inch (M4) is from €25, and you are told the cost before it starts. No additional paid work happens without your approval.

No. The diagnostic is from €25 and there is no fee if we cannot fix it. You get told what has failed and what it costs before anything happens.

Usually not, which is the good news. Batteries and charging faults account for most of them, and both are ordinary repairs. The board is what we check when the cheaper answers have been ruled out.

Batteries fail suddenly more often than people expect, particularly in cold weather and particularly once they are a few years old. It is worth checking before assuming the worst.

No. It is free, you are told what has failed and what it costs, and there is no fee if we cannot fix it.

Usually not, which is the good news. Chargers, batteries and software account for most of them.

No. If it has looped or failed repeatedly, leave it off. Repeated attempts on a device that is failing under load do not help and occasionally make things worse.

Often yes, and say that is the priority before we start rather than after.

Usually same day. Where a fault only appears under load we sometimes have to leave it running, and we say so at the counter rather than leaving you wondering.

Yes, because dead rarely means dead. The usual causes are a failed battery, a charging port that stopped delivering power, or a board fault after a drop or a spill, and the first two are routine repairs. The diagnostic is from €25, so finding out costs you nothing.

Whether it draws any current at all, which tells us straight away if this is a battery and port problem or a board problem. From there we work through power rails on the bench. You get a plain answer and a price before anything is replaced.

Usually yes, and that is a separate job to reviving the device. Even where a board is beyond economic repair we can often recover what is on the storage.

Walk in. We are at 4 Richmond Road, Drumcondra, Dublin 3, open Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm and Saturday 10am to 5pm. Closed Sunday. You can also book online and we will confirm a slot, or ask us to collect the device anywhere in Dublin, Monday to Friday.
